I purchased this product when my son began to complain about a painful pimple that just wouldn't surface so that it could be dealt with manually. This reminded me of my own childhood and adolescence when I was introduced to a drawing salve by my now late mother. I was reminded of the utility and effectiveness of that old stuff, which was in a tin 2~3 times the size of this one, and never seemed to run out. I immediately searched Amazon for what product that might've been and found this one. The label didn't look familiar from my memories, and despite being initially disappointed it was not the "original," I decided to give it the old college try. After purchasing it and receiving it in a timely manner we immediately put it to use. After the third application over a two day span it managed to do exactly what the "original" did - it drew out the infection and literally brought it to a head. (Much to my son's relief after the fact.) Later I did manage to identify the product my mother used by looking for vintage tins and it is still in production today. Still if this one continues to be as effective as the original I see no reason to go out of my way to purchase the other product. We'll see how it does taking the itch out of mosquito bites, skin irritation and drawing out splinters this summer! The only other comment I would like to add is that this product has a lot of essential oils in it so if you have an allergy to Chickweed, Camfrey, Plantain, Camphor, Wintergreen, Eucalyptus, Pine or Lavender you should stay away from it. (In contrast the original I mentioned only contained cajeput, camphor and spruce oils.)
