Bird Feeder or Bird House?
I put this bird feeder on a bay window off the kitchen. The birds had no problem finding the feeder and it was very neat to see the birds coming and going while we sat down at the table to eat. The first year I had this I used sunflower seeds in order to attract cardinals. The only issue I had was that the feeder had to be filled quite often. The second year I had the feeder I used generic bird food from Home Depot. We got more of a variety of birds that way but the feeder still needed to be filled often. We went out of town for a week and while we were gone the birds ate all the food. This is also when a mother bird decided the bird feeder would be an excellent spot for her nest. At first we thought it was really neat to watch her build the nest. She laid five eggs and it was awesome to be able to see the eggs hatch and baby birds appear. The problem is, with baby birds come a huge mess. Once the babies left the nest I had to scrape bird poop off the window and throw away the feeder. All in all though, it was an amazing experience and I am glad that my small kids and I got to see these babies hatch. The feeder is cheap enough to buy a few more and feed the birds again. This time though, I don't think I will let it say empty long enough for a nest to be built!
