Now I Love Cooking Even More - Takes Less Time
My new Copper Chef has made cooking easier for me. I now have a pan that is super versatile, heats quickly, holds heat and distributes the heat evenly, plus is non-stick for easy clean-up. I am tickled to have a pan that can be heated up to 850 degrees Fahrenheit and works on any stovetop and in the oven. The 5-piece set which comes with (1) Copper Chef with vented Glass Lid, (2) Frying Basket, (3) Steam Plate, (4) Utensils (spatula, pasta fork, slotted ladle, spoon) (5) Cookbook (6) Information and Instruction Booklet which includes the Warranty Certificate. Here is something everyone will love – the basket and steam plate fit inside the Copper Chef with the lid closing, which means easy storage! Tristar Products, Inc., has done a fabulous job putting together this information and instruction booklet, by the way. Be sure to read it thoroughly in order to understand all the “do’s and don’ts” to take the best care you can of this pan and everything included. Plus it explains how to attach the handle to the basket and put the legs on the steam plate using diagrams and clear instructions. I so appreciate a seller who gives good instructions and information on their product. This square Copper Chef pan itself is very sturdy and not very heavy at all, and the stainless steel handles are riveted on. The main handle is hollow and extra long and has an ingenious indentation close to the pan for your thumb. I find it easy and comfortable to lift and move it from stove to oven to table and then from sink to storage cabinet. This pan has a stainless steel induction plate fitted into the bottom of the pan, which you can see one side of when you look at the bottom of the pan. This is what gives the pan even heating, plus, as we learned in chemistry, copper is a metal with very high thermal and electrical conductivity. The steam plate and frying basket are either made of stainless steel or aluminum. Since aluminum will scratch when rubbed with a key, I did this test and there were no scratches, so I think this is stainless steel or aluminum coated with a steel finish. When I did the magnet test because a magnet will stick to stainless steel, the magnet did not stick on the steam plate or the basket, but sometimes this test is not always reliable. Use over time will reveal what these are constructed of. On the attached video, I show testing out the Copper Chef to make a chicken dish that started on my stovetop and ended being baked in the oven. Followed by steaming asparagus and then after that making popcorn with no oil or butter on the stovetop in my Copper Chef. Yes, you heard it right, and this goes for everything you make in your Copper Shop, no oil is needed. The deep sides and square shape of this pan mean you have more room for food than a traditional round pan. My chicken after baking was very moist and everything was extremely flavorful. The asparagus started steaming after only 3 minutes of heat and the bright green color after steaming told me it retained its nutritive values. For the popcorn I preheated the pan and then put my kernels in with no oil wit the burner setting at about 7. The popcorn did pop super quick and I had to make sure it did not burn, so you could probably get away with a burner setting of 5. Nothing stuck to the bottom of my pan and I was able to rinse it right out, and then I washed it with dishwashing liquid not containing lemon as a base, which are the instructions in the information included with the pan. I can also put this into the dishwasher. The Nonstick "Cerami-Tech Coating" is covered by a Lifetime Warranty, and there is a limited 60-day warranty on all the other parts. The Cerami-Tech Coating is what covers this pan and makes it non-stick and durable, plus it claims to be chemical-free, PFOA- and PTFE-free. There isn’t a lot of information out there when I searched the internet about Cerami-Tech Coating. However, I did find a Technical Data Sheet completed by a company in the UK that manufactures Cerami-Tech FG. Just an FYI, PTFE is basically Teflon and there are professional claims that it does not cause cancer. PFOA is used in making Teflon, as well as being on our carpets and fabrics that are stain resistant. The scary thing about PFOA is that almost everyone in the US has it in their blood and it is a chemical that takes a long time for the human body to eliminate.
