Decent headset but not for audiophiles.
Overall: this is a decent headset that has effective noise-cancellation. ** If you have never owned or used ANC (Active Noise Canceling) headphones, there is one major thing you should consider: The audio quality is affected. When ANC is activated, you lose some of the audio quality and clarity. If the music is loud enough, this effect is diminished. However, if you like to listen at lower volumes, you will notice a lack of rich sound in the mid-range in the same frequencies that the headset is trying to drown-out -- this is sadly a tradeoff of using ANC. But be aware that this is not a shortcoming of this particular headset, just a side effect of ANC in general. ** I purchased this headset to use at work to listen to music and to take phone calls. I wear a headset often during the day so the most important things to me were Comfort, Audio Quality, and Durability. It does well in all 3. PROS: -ANC is good, it drowns out general hum/background noise from fans/appliances etc.. -AUDIO quality is good in both the headphones and the outbound sound through the attached microphone cable. I tested several calls as both the caller and the reciever (asking a co-worker to use the headset and me on the other phone) and the audio quality was good. -DURABILITY: the build is strong, the head band is very durable and stays in the notches you set when you adjust the size. -PRICE: I haven't seen an ANC headset this good in this price range. It's not amazing but other ANC headsets in the 300$ price range do not sound significantly better. CONS: -Frequency response: it really lacks some midrange when the ANC Is on. -Internal pouch: is very small, once you unwind the cords and try to pack them back in, you may struggle to fit the cords back in. I ended up taking the airplane adapter out and leaving it at home for more room. -Cord durability: the microphone cord especially is a bit delicate. The components in the microphone/volume adjuster tend to rattle a little bit when you shift around. -Ear cups are a bit small. They are about the same size as the Bose QC-25 ear cups but smaller than the Sony MDR-7506 Personal note: When I first got these, I didn't like them at all. I thought they were too small and thought the audio quality was bad. However, I was comparing them to my Sony MDR-7506's, and that's just not a fair comparison. A well balanced professional studio headset vs an ANC headset with travel case. These are two very different purposes. So in the end, if you are debating between this and a non-ANC headset, really ask yourself what you want and limit your selection to one camp or the other. I hope this helps!
