For me, this little jewel is perfect. I'm 70 years old and gadget-phobic. But I wanted to shove something in my pocket for walks filled with thoughts or my musings over a book or a reminder to myself. To think aloud and later write or act on what came to me. I tried one of these things that sed SONY on the package (the name seemed a worthy endorsement) and fumbled with the knobs and buttons and its odd shape didn't fit pocket or hand. Gave it away. This trim, little package does exactly what it was designed to do, weighs a fraction of a pound and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, took less than a day for a gadget-phobic, 70-yr-old guy to master. The instructions are sensible, the display is decipherable, the few buttons do as advertised, and these old ears can hear this gravelly old voice clearly. And it sits so comfortably in the hand and the pocket that one is more than tempted to take it everywhere. Lots of choices around. If value is a combination of usefulness and price and 'portability', and your object is a little voice-recorder, try this one. I often imagine, in a gadget world, what might appeal to my kids and grandkids as well as my ancient self. This little machine fits all our worlds.
