I cannot recommend this shampoo enough! One of our dogs (black Labrador) somehow contracted sarcoptic mange mites. Nothing else we had tried worked. We tried lime sulfur dips, a variety of other medicated shampoos, and our vet even had us try 3 rounds of Revolution to kill off the mites, but nothing was helping this poor dog and he continued to scratch, chew, and lick himself raw. He was missing fur on his face, head, ears, chest, sides, belly, feet, and legs. He both looked and smelled terrible and he was downright miserable. We finally came across this shampoo while desperately searching for something else to try and give him some relief. I'll admit that I was a bit skeptical at first because we had tried so many other medicated shampoos with little to no results, but I read the great reviews and decided that we had nothing left to lose, so I ordered 2 bottles. After the first use, we noticed an immediate difference. His itchiness was almost cut in half. He was still scratching and chewing some, but not nearly as much as before using this shampoo. We started washing him every other day with this stuff, leaving it on him for 10-15 minutes before rinsing, just as the bottle instructs, and he started improving more and more with each bath. We have now been consistently using this shampoo every other day for 6 weeks and we will continue to use it until all of his symptoms are 100% gone and all of his hair has grown back in. A lot of it already has grown back, with the exception of his back legs any elbows, but we expect those areas to take longer since they were in the worst shape. We have been applying some vitamin E oil to those areas. Just as an FYI for anyone else who has a dog going through this, eliminating mange takes time! It is NOT something that is going to be cured with just one, two, or even three baths. Depending on the severity of the mange, it can literally take months to even a year (in more severe cases) to finally eliminate all of the mites. You have to be incredibly persistent and consistent with the treatments or else it will be an endless cycle and you'll just have to keep starting over from scratch. This is something that is going to take some serious patience. It is also, VERY, VERY important that you allow this shampoo to remain on your dog for at least 10-15 minutes in order to give it adequate time to soak into the skin and coat and work its magic. We always leave it on for the full 15 minutes. Then, make sure to rinse very thoroughly to get all of the shampoo and debris off of the dog (and there will be debris when you're dealing with mange). I always spend several minutes rinsing to be sure the skin and coat are totally clean. In addition to regular use of this shampoo, it is also incredibly important to boost the dog's immune system so that they can recover faster. We do this by supplementing our dog's diet with a few different things, including milk thistle, turmeric curcumin, vitamin C, and salmon oil. We also add some raw, unrefined coconut oil to his food every morning, which is great for the immune system and has antifungal properties as well. As long as you stay consistent and keep up with the treatments, this shampoo WILL help your dog, and it's significantly cheaper than going to the vet!
