I am fortunate enough to be able to test this stud finder with some open walls, so I could see how accurate it is or isn't. Here's the good and the bad. It found every stud on my open walls. I was very impressed and about to give it 5 stars and then I noticed that it gets tripped up when you have insulation in your walls. Of course there are many different types of insulation, and the kind that I found that really plays havoc on this stud finder is the insulation that has a foil backing on one side. The signal seems to get tricked and all the LED's light up, just like when you put foil in a microwave oven. Depending how close the foil is to your drywall, determines how accurate it will be under these conditions. Sometimes putting it in then same spot on the wall gives different readings. I was very disappointed to see this. If you don't have the foil backing type of insulation used in your walls then you will probably be very happy with this stud finder. I can honestly say that it is the best stud finder I have ever tested, BUT if you have the type of insulation that has a foil backing, then this tool will help but may give occasional false readings. They should either cut the price in half, or add a sensitivity control to help with the insulation false reading problem.
