If you don’t know how to sharpen a knife or own a sharpening tool AND want to be able to slice things into thin pieces (like a tomato or sushi for instance) this knife set may not be for you. (unless you’re broke and can’t afford a more expensive knife set than this IS for you as you probably won’t find something better for the price. ) Straight out of the box the knives are on the dull side. We had to sharpen them to get them up to our standards. That being said, this review is coming from my room mate and I--we like to slice things pretty precisely and also like to make things like sushi which requires a sharp blade. (My room mate and I go into detail in our video review.) We were impressed with the quality of the product for the low price point and don’t know of many knife sets in the same price range that would offer the same high quality--stainless steel, knife block, etc. (we obviously can’t compare this 40.00 set to a 300.00 knife set) A few extra things: -These knives respond more like a stamped knife as opposed to a forged knife. (forged knives are normally a higher price point) You won’t be able to get as sharp of an edge as you would with a forged knife because of this. Also, the knife will probably go dull pretty quickly after sharpening It. This is a new knife set for me so it is too early for me to tell. We just took a guess. I will update this review accordingly. - The structure of the knives are a high quality. They are made of one piece of stainless steel and have a nice curvature for slicing. In addition, they are light weight and well balanced when held in your hands. -Aesthetically pleasing-- modern/contemporary design which adds a nice look to the kitchen -The stand that's included is structurally sound, durable, and looks like it would withstand a lot of usage in the kitchen. It is also easy to slide the knives in and out and seems to be made out of a material that won’t dull the knives. (plastic) Overall we give this product 4/5 stars because the quality is really high for the price point of these knives. I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my ***honest*** review. Honesty and integrity are of the upmost importance to me. I am a consumer just like you and am fighting the good fight to weed out the products that aren't worth our time. I hope that this helps you! ☺
