After all the research, this stroller is the one!
Omg, please stop looking for strollers. Please! If you're anything like me, this is the 101st review you've read about strollers and you STILL don't know which one to buy. This one costs more than some others, but it has some great features. Do you suck it up and pay it, or make do with a cheaper stroller that still seems to give you basic stroller needs? Mom/Dad, I've been in your shoes. Take a deep breath, and a drink of coffee. Come with me for a minute on a stroller-buying journey and learn from all my ridiculous worry and hard work.
When we bought our stroller for our first child, we 'wisely' went down to the baby store and tested them out, looking specifically at the weight and height (my husband is 6'4" and my mother pointed out that we needed to get a stroller someone that tall would be comfortable pushing). Point for Grandma. We wanted an all-in-one travel system with a light car seat. We found that in the Graco and we were perfectly happy. Our little travel system served us well, until we actually had to travel. The big wheels (that didn't even work for jogging) meant that the stroller took up most of our trunks (a roomy sedan and a crossover). The stroller was Bob-sized without having the nice movability of a Bob. Boo. But, still, we spent all that money so we were going to use the stroller. And use it we did.
Then we got pregnant with our second child. With a large 2 year old, I decided that we needed a good quality double stroller (husband was less convinced, as our 2 year old walks well and the cost of another stroller... oy). So, I went to work. And I do mean work. I looked everywhere, looked at every double stroller I could find. We wanted to re-use our carrier car seat, but, of course, Graco had changed their connect systems, so buying a compatible stroller limited our options (or we could have bought a whole new car seat, plus the additional bases for our cars. Joy.). Seriously, I made spreadsheets. I recorded every spec imaginable (height, weight, folded height, etc.) Hubby is an engineer, so I assigned values to features and graphed it out against the price. I kid you not.
This stroller won on the spreadsheets for features and ability to adapt with 2 kids. I bought the adapter and second seat, and it's working amazingly well. We tried it before we bought it and hubby thinks it's by far the most comfortable for someone who is tall, which means he actually enjoys pushing the stroller. Win! The different configurations are awesome... we've put our big kid backwards/laying down at theme parks, which means a much better nap. Little one is still in a car seat, but we're looking forward to using the second seat a lot. I've even used this a single stroller, which is awesome! The frame is light weight and it folds MUCH smaller than most other strollers.
The only small downside is that it has to be take apart before you can put it away. There's no super quick 5 second fold here; you have to remove the seat and adapter before putting it in the car. (To be honest, I think you can leave one seat on it or something, but I haven't really tried). Now that I'm used to it, I can actually break it down super quickly, and it gives me a lot more flexibility in how I put it in the car, which means I can fit mores stuff in! The other bonus is that I can actually shake out the seat before I put it in my car... goodbye animal cookie crumbs and shoe dirt! (I used to think my stroller wouldn't get dirty from food and things... then I actually became a parent. It's not bad, it adds up over time). The basket underneath is amazingly awesome - it holds everything, plus a juice cup, I swear. I'm an over-packer (everyone makes fun until they need some hand sanitizer or a kid goes through an unexpected change of clothes), and this stroller holds everything we need for a full day at a theme park or just a quick trip shopping. We added on soft cup holders (also made by Baby Jogger, actually), so this stroller is pretty much everything. It's also very maneuverable, which is handy. with the seat on the bottom, it's a little long, but not exceptionally so. It's slim, fitting through standard doorways and even fits on some moving walkways (handy for going up hills at our local zoo). The full recline was a must for me and that works very well too.
All in all, I love this stroller. It was more than I wanted to spend, but so worth every penny to me. I only wish we had planned ahead and bought this for our first child. But we were naïve and had no idea how much one needs to spend to have awesome stuff for kids. So, learn from my research. This stroller is light (for what it is), compact (again, for what it is), and comfortable to use. My 2 1/2 year old can get in and out of the bottom seat with ease, making it awesome for fun outings like the zoo and theme parks. This is a stroller that's going to easily last us through our second baby's stroller career, all while making mom and dad happy! Now, go re-warm your coffee and go watch a funny cat video! Godspeed, Mom and Dad, Godspeed!
