Nice Product if you don't follow the instructions
When finally assembled, this is a nice sturdy chair. It is put together with thumb-screws, so no tools at all are required. Further, you can disassemble it and store the pieces if the chair is not needed for a period of time.
This chair was recommended by a visiting nurse who came to our house after my wife was discharged from a hospital stay. I can say she was correct in saying it is sturdy, fits nicely in the bath tub, and is adjustable for height.
I would have given the chair five stars except for the incorrect Assembly Instructions. At first glance, the instructions are in a nice glossy-paged booklet with color pictures; it looks like a real professional job. But you quickly find that the instructions are not correct. I can see why some reviewers gave it one star, saying the parts don't fit. They do, but you have to put the chair together correctly. Here is a corrected order of assembly:
1. Place the seat bottom upside-down with the letters "A" and "B" facing you.
2. You receive nine thumb-screws; 4 long, 4 short, and 1 intermediate length.
3. Locate the #1 frame part, and place it in the "A" slot (the number "1" is stamped on the part). MAKE SURE THE FLATTENED PORTION IN THE MIDDLE LINES UP WITH THE "B" SLOT, because the #2 part lays over the #1 part and must be oriented correctly.
4. Locate the #2 frame part, and place it in the "B" slot OVER the #1 part (the number "2" is stamped on the part). The #2 part has one side flat and the other side rounded where it crosses the #1 part in the middle.
5. Secure the #1 and #2 parts to the seat bench with a cup washer and the single Intermediate Length thumb-screw. Don't tighten the screw all the way - snug it up but leave it a bit loose.
6. Lay the bench on its side
7. Attach both backrest tubes to the legs and bench using the four LONG thumb-screws. Backrest tubes should protrude from the BACK of the bench. The FRONT of the bench is the side with the embossed "A" and "B" on the underside. Leave the screws snug but a bit loose. Do not tighten at this time.
8. Slide a leg extension over each leg. Push in the pin and slide the extension on. Orient the extension so the pin is not lined up with the holes until you get the extension to about the right height, then turn the extension until the pin snaps into the appropriate hole. All four extensions must be set to the same height.
9. Stand the chair upright, attach the back to the backrest tubes. Use the four SHORT thumb-screws.
10. Insert one arm rest on each side, leaning outward from the seat.
11. Now tighten the 9 thumb-screws, starting with the bottom. Snug each one up - not tight - then go around the chair again tightening each one a bit tighter, until all 9 are snug and firm. Do not over tighten, these screws should be finger-tight plus about ¼ turn. When all fasteners are tight, stand the chair upright and make sure it's sturdy.
