Better than expected!!!
After reading much on the reviews online for this pot, I decided to order it and hoped that at least it would work as for my needs.
What I received went well beyond my expectations for this pot! The finish is well made and the top fits perfectly all the time. There's that metal-chemical smell when you first remove the lid from the pot, as with any type of goods which receives special coatings of protection. After a generous bath in vinegar and another bath in concentrated orange cleaner, the odor is kaput!
The pot is tall but not so much as to be hard to cook in the stovetop. Clean up is a breeze and the outside will not hold runs as others. The material in the lid knob as well as the two side handles is not the type used on my T-Fal set, they feel more plastic than rubbery.
The pot heats evenly and as expected from non-stick interiors, foods will not cling to the walls or interior bottom.
My only complaint would be that the external bottom is hard to clean when spills reach the base, as the grooves are anything but easy to scrub. Other than this minor setback, this is another great product from the T-Fal line which is becoming a classic stamp in our kitchen!
If you want your non-stick pots and cooking sets to last, dump every piece of metallic spoons and serving ware that you normally use to cook in your kitchen! We have a set from 7 years ago made by T-Fal which still retains the non-stick abilities like the first day they were unboxed and used! No matter how much they tell you is ok to use metal spoons and stuff, don't!
Update! 11/05/2012
Man! This is not a "pot" but the "Pot" of pots!
What a POT! Still like new after heavy, and I mean heavy use!
The problems faced by others must be due to overheating the pot in the first place! Coated pots are NOT to be used with high heat at any given time!
Apart from the normal wear from heavy use, the pot is the best value for the money!
You won't be sorry if you order this pot!
UPDATE!!! 06/07/2013
After quite some nice time using this pot, the results are undeniable!
The pot is good for the money paid!
Again, don't use any metal serving ware or spoons and the coating will remain intact for years.
I'm posting a few pictures as an update to the coating inside and outside of the pot, so you can judge on it after almost two years of weekly use. Pictures speak better than words...
If your take care of your pot, it will last for a long time in service!
Update! 09/10/2015
Heavy every other day use and still in good shape!
Some scuffs here and there, but still in top shape.
It's a very good value for the buck. I'm happy I read as many reviews as I did before I purchased it.
The coating is still intact for the most part. The bottom cleaning was hit and miss with many products, until I started to use a bit of baking soda.
The lid is just the same as when I got it home. No warping, no residue build up in the inside seam, no lost parts. The handles are still firmly attached and the molding on them still as good as when new.
Overall, if you can still find a pot like this, it's well worth the buck.
The pictures 6 to 9 are from 09/10/2015!!!
Update 05/31/2017!!!!!!!
Still the pot of pots!
No problems so far ( knock on wood).
The coating has faded a bit more as of lately, but its non-stick properties are still there. Just normal wear after so many years of usage.
Best por for my money!
Pot'o luck!?
