As far as installation is concerned, make it easy for yourself and install an isolation valve before the filter for ease of cartridge replacement, this is assuming you bought the valve kit for your tankless heater. Makes for a two minute replacement. Manufacturer suggests replacing every 6 months...Regardless of the descaler, flush your tankless heater once a year....
