Goodbye land line! Panasonic KX-TGE275S system lets me make and answer calls with my cell phone!
I gave up my land line a couple of years ago and switched to VOIP with ObiTalk and Google Voice. As of May 15, 2014, that arrangement will be discontinued by Google. So, I needed a needed a new solution. Just carrying my mobile phone with me around the house was not an option. It needs to charge. (I guess there's also concerns about those brain-frying cellular death rays.)
The KX-TGE27 series is the latest (2014) edition of Panasonic wireless phones with Bluetooth that pair to up to 2 cellular phones at a time. The "5" suffix indicates that there are 5 handsets in the box, and "S" stands for "silver", I'm pretty sure.
It took me a while to find this system. Amazon features previous generations more prominently. I placed my order using Amazon Prime, and it arrived in two days (yesterday).
This is a system with lots of features, and a pretty big manual. Using the quick start guide, I got the base station powered up, connected to the land line, and paired to two different cell phones in under 10 minutes. The handsets come with AAA NIMH batteries. I haven't got much beyond the basics, but it looks like you can geek out on some pretty advanced features like sharing your contacts between your phones, mimicking your cellular ringtone (tried it, but didn't seem to work), and "find my phone".
Sound quality is good, buttons are big, volume settings are flexible, and display is big and bright.
