Hello all beginners!!
NO POLYGEL is for fresh out of the gate beginners!!! Do you have to be a professional to apply? No… I had acrylic nails for over 15 years. Then I learned how to do my own acrylic. Then I stopped because it’s very time consuming. And decent professional products were becoming harder to come by when I’m not a pro. I came across polygel which also has its own learning curve. My suggestions/tips from a non pro: • Watch tons of videos on YouTube first. • Be very careful NOT to push up to the cuticle! This will cut your time literally in half if you can master placement! • Use a dehydrator and bonder! Push your cuticles back! And clean them up. If not they will all lift and pop super quick! • Nail prep will help these nails last a lot longer!! • Stop complaining about spending $30 for a set when it would cost you $60-$100 for some of these long elaborate sets y’all wanna do • Remember this takes time to learn to do and mold! If you think this is gonna be as easy as a press on with glue… it’s not… • I find it easiest to flash cure one nail at a time to hold form placement then go back and do a full cure ON both sides top and bottom. • if this is something you are serious about invest in a good lamp and efile (drill) • you shouldn’t need clips to keep them in place!!! If you’re getting lifting at the cuticle while the product is UNCURED/still wet then try different tips!! And/or base coat. Also file and firm your tips to match your nail bed. • rubbing alcohol can be used as slip solution!! • DON’T over use slip solution!!!!!!! This one is super important!!! You’ll get lifting and longer cure times. If using isopropyl alcohol let dry if you have too much. If using modelones slip then dab some off with a lint free nail wipe or just give a minute to dry! My picture I’m posting is my 5th or 6th set using polygel (saviland and modelones) and I’m still getting the hang of it. This set is a mixture of modelones sets. I have saviland, modelones, gershion, and gellen polygel. So far modelones and saviland are my favorite. Gellen is super soft but I can’t speak to the longevity because I’m currently wearing their set. I also can’t speak to gershion. I haven’t tried their set yet. But I think they also went out of business I can’t find their products anywhere. For some reason my 2nd set of modelones only Lasted two weeks and I’m not sure why. But the 3rd last longer. User error? Who knows. Saviland lasted the longest with no lifting so far but their glitter polygel chips a little easier then I’d like. With all that said I prefer my nails to look more natural, shorter and I like them THIN. So for people giving 1 star reviews because it takes too long or it’s too hard to use… please remember this is a cheaper substitute for salon nails. You do need practice. You should watch videos. Do realize that your first second and probably 3rd set is gonna take you 3 hours. Depending on how long you want them and how many colors you want to blend and such. How complex of a set you want. THESE AREN'T JUST POP AND GO! Lol
