Great Heater: Context is Everything
I live in Minnesota. Land of the frigid tundra in winter. I bought this for my finished basement which has HVAC issues. There is forced air ducts in the ceiling, but cold radiates from the ground upward and pushes heat to the main floor. I bought this to supplement the heat in the room (500 sq feet). By providing heat closer to the ground I wanted to rise the rooms temp enough to drive down the chill from the ground and allow heat coming from the ceiling ducts to fall and penetrate the room without being driven up to the main floor by cold air.
So far so good. It can maintain the rooms temp well and with a little advance notice it’ll get it warmed up nice from about 60 degrees to a toasty 72. I would say it’s about the same time it takes a standard forced air furnace to fill a room that size. I recommend using the fan setting to fill the room then lower settings to maintain it.
Yes the heater and fans makes noise. As do all heating methods (fireplace, forced air, radiators, wood stoves, etc). I would say it should not be overly bothersome because again, all heating methods make some noises. Just shut off fans once desired temp is reached. I would recommend for anyone really. I wall mounted and positioned it for centrality since will blow heat in 3 directions simultaneously.
Compared to other heating sources and methods I’d recommend as supplemental heat for a whole room.
Reading all of the reviews on here I can tell you very few are any use. They tend to lack context and therefore you never know whether their “good” review means “good for you too”. It just depends what you’re looking for. So take reviews on here with a grain of salt.
For example saying it heats a room quickly doesn’t help anyone. Are you talking about a 600 sq foot room, or 160 sq foot room? Are you going from 60 degrees to 70 degrees? Or are you trying to go from 50 to 75? Also where do you live? That makes a HUGE difference in terms of your need for it. Saying it works quickly isn’t helpful. Is it quick compared to an alternative? Quick compared to forced air systems? Radiator systems? Other space heaters? If a rooms too cold you need to heat it somehow. Every single method you try takes time because of science and the laws of thermodynamics. Even a forced air system takes a while to heat all the air in an entire room. This is a room heater. Not to be confused with a “personal space heater”. There’s a reason none of the vents face forward. It’s heating an entire room on you specifically. And no heating method is instantaneous. It will take time to convert cold air into heated air. To be helpful it needs to be compared to something else. Also saying it’s “too loud” makes absolutely no sense. All heaters (and a/c make noise). So it’s too loud compared to what? A mouse? A jet engine? Or more importantly compare it to an alternative heat source. This would be actually relevant information to have because again, all heating sources will make noises. Even radiators pop as they expand and contract (that’s noise).
