When these pillows arrived they were compressed very, very flat. I almost didn't open them because I thought they were going to be far too flat for my purposes. Since they weren't very expensive I decided to open them and give them a try. They instantly puffed up about 3 to 4 times the shipping thickness and they haven't lost their lift over several months of use. They are about 6 inches thick and slightly firm. I don't use them as baby or kid pillows. They would probably be too firm for an actual baby, but they are great for recliner neck support or extra support pillows for sleep without taking up half my bed.
