I have had this for a few months and so far it works great. I wanted something for dish soap and this does the trick. You need to use something with substance to get the motion detection to work, but I do not mind that as it prevents misfires. It works fine with a sponge or a substantial brush, but it will not dispense for thinner dish brushes (e.g., wire based bristle type with lots of space between bristles). It stays on the edge of my sink on one of those plastic honeycomb things used to catch drips for coffee since I have a granite countertop.
