Love it! Still working perfectly after over 8 years!
I have owned this since October of 2009. After seven years of use, the only thing that has gone wrong is that the holding clip for the outdoor transmitter cracked this past summer. Now it hangs from a hook instead of clipping into its holder. The base unit has had no problem in seven years, and the transmitter itself has also been problem free. Not many items last like this has! I only use it to measure indoor and outdoor temperatures, I don't move it around.
Batteries need to be changed at least once and maybe twice a year. I have found that if I change the batteries twice a year the display stays bright enough to read from across the room.
One piece of advice on batteries with this unit-
Some battery brands, including Panasonic and Sunbeam, seem to be just a small fraction shorter than others, and don't make a good connection in the transmitter. Energizer and Duracell fit tight and work well in both the transmitter and the base unit, as do the Walgreens brand.
Update- It’s now 2018, and it’s still working.
