Rachel Hollis entered my life via her blog. I had not read any of her other books, but the title of "Girl, Wash Your Face" hit me. Like Rachel, I've done therapy too. And my therapist said something very similar to me after a session of crying and feeling emotionally drained. When I bought the book initially, I purchased an audible version and begin listing on my drive to and from work. I'm a professor. As I listened I kept thinking I need to write a note to myself about what Rachel just said. So before long I ordered a hard copy. I found myself listening to Rachel read to me as I followed along with the text making notes and putting sticky notes. Before long, I found that I was using Rachel's quotes in the lectures at the university and soon - I introduced my class of secondary (7th - 12th grade) education future teachers to Rachel Hollis. Throughout the entire semester my students and I connected the "lies" in the book to "lies" junior high and high school students believe or begin to believe. And more importantly we decided that as they planned lessons to teach they would weave life lessons to debunk the "lies" and even intermingle quotes from the book. Rachel Hollis is an amazing, yet ordinary lady. Rachel touches every reader down deep and helps them to get up and walk away from all the lies that have been built over time. This book is for EVERY Girl and her mate. The book applies to girls, young, middle aged, and even older grandmothers like me. I recommend that high school teachers adopt this book as a required book. The messages in the pages of this book - will change your life. This isn't a once read and put it on the shelf kinda book, you will go back to it over and over.
