This trunk organizer seems like exactly what I want, an should be an easy five-star review. It appears to be durable, the partial- and full-collapsibility make it really versatile and useful. [Edit: Oct 2019: After seeing the review below, Fortem sent me a replacement. The replacement has a similar odor, but it's *much* less severe. Even after the old one was airing out in a well-ventilated area for almost two weeks, the new one smells better. I'm VERY happy with their customer service, and am happy to raise my rating to 4 stars. It still seems clear that the chemicals they use to manufacture this leave a residual odor, but the severity of that odor varies from item to item. The new one has a mild enough smell that I'm happy to put it in my trunk. The odor will certainly not permeate the car, like the previous one did, but the trunk may have a slight, noticeable odor while this continues to outgas.] Remainder of original review, from mid-September 2019: Unfortunately... I don't know what kind of rotting animal carcass they manufacture or store these things next to, but it stinks! You don't really notice it unless you stick your head inside it (at which point you realize the smell is very strong)... or until you leave it in your trunk overnight and get in your car the next day, and notice that your car has a vaguely disgusting smell permeating it. It's subtle enough that it's not noticeable if you leave the container in a large room with any ventilation, so for now, it's sitting in my house until I buy some kind of deodorizing spray that I can douse this thing with, before putting it back into my car. I'm not sure what the smell is or what it might have come from. It doesn't smell like new plastic or textiles, and despite my joke above, it doesn't actually smell like a dead animal, but the odor is much CLOSER to "dead animal" smell than it is to "processed textiles/plastic" smell. It is not a smell I would ever expect to come from a manufactured product like this. If you have some strong deodorizing spray handy, I actually recommend this cargo container. Aside from the smell, it's REALLY nice!
