Very soft to the touch right out of the bag, and even softer after I washed and dried it! Quilts can sometimes be stiff before use, so was pleasantly surprised. Heavier than I expected, but I like that I can now take my blanket off the bed for summer weather; the spread provides enough warmth. The only down side is that It came out of the dryer just a little wrinkled, but I expect that with 100% cotton, and know that it’ll smooth out with use. Another note: great construction; straight seams with no long threads exposed, like so often with inexpensive products. This looks like I paid MUCH more than I did! Perfect and comforting bed spread!
