I have had my BODUM press maker frame just sitting in the cabinet (because the decanter broke) for so long. once the plastic frame gets heated up I find it no decanter stays in tight so you still have to kind of squeeze with your thumb to make sure when you're pouring it doesn't slide out of the frame (but that has nothing to do with the decanter). So this replacement was much more economical and seems like better glass; it's a little taller but will still work with BODUM frame. Just glad I don't have a piece of non-functional coffee maker in the cabinet now.
