PCOS and anxiety -- it's basically a miracle
I suffered for years and years and years with severe anxiety and messed up periods/PCOS. I'm not anti-doctors, but they weren't much help, they basically gave the choices of drugs/therapy and drugs/surgery, and those things were never solutions. I tried dozens and dozens of supplements over a couple years -- theanine, tyrosine, gaba, l-dopa, phenylalanine, phosphatidyleserine, racetams, lithium, progesterone cream, thyroid boosters, etc. Then I was in Vitamin Shoppe one day when Inositol caught my eye. I was only $9 for the bottle, and I'd vaguely remembered reading something about it being good for anxiety. So I grabbed a bottle on a whim and took a full 18 grams, as everything I'd read said you needed a bunch to be a therapeutic dose. And it changed my life within the first two days. I never imagined a supplement could do this. That all these years, the fatigue, pain, hair loss, endless bleeding, crippling anxiety -- it all came down to needing what is basically vitamin B8. That's all. In my teens my period would disappear for months, and I'd only have a couple periods a year. I'd thought that was bad until I got my period one day and it never went away. I'd go all year bleeding; it would only stop a few days a year. I had to take iron every day to keep from getting too anemic, it was miserable, I was always exhausted, I always felt like I was starving to death, I'd get so depressed. After about a week of taking high doses of inositol every day, my period stopped. The ovary pain from the cyst went away. I felt chill, and happy. I remember just feeling waves of happiness. I felt stabilized for the first time in so long, both mentally and physically. I know it was the inositol, too, as I ran out but didn't get any before going away for a few days. After five or so days without taking it, I felt the anxiety creeping back and I started spotting/bleeding. I grabbed a bottle when I got home and all the benefits returned. NOTE: inositol requires high dosing -- you'll need something like 12 to 18 grams a day split into two or three doses. Read studies online to get an idea for what to take. I personally take 12 grams a day in three doses, and it works very, very well.
