Works great, but not very humane (is there anything as a humane ant killer?)
For years (10, to be exact), I managed to keep ants out by keeping my house super clean, using lavender essential oil on baseboard, and leaving a heaping pile of sugar for them outside. And for 10 years in worked. Then, this year, I lost the battle when a colony established base camp under my sink (of all places). Maybe I got sloppy. Maybe they got greedy. Who knows? I tried all the regular tricks for weeks but nothing worked. And as much as I try to avoid killing anything, there's a point where it's you or them. And when you can't chop vegetables because they're climbing on your from the cutting board, then it's time for action. As far as action go, this did the trick. Three days, it took, to decimate the entire colony. Every morning, I dutifully replaced the drop of poison that had solidified during the night, and saw dozens of ants lining up to drink (juts like on all the pictures online). By day two, I felt so bad about the way they died (drying up from the inside and desperately dragging themselves all over my sink looking for water) that I armed myself with paper towels and delivered "mercy killings" by the hundreds. In the end, I can't be sure how many died by my hands, and how many Terro Ant Killer actually killed... But it worked. The ants are gone. And I'm probably going to hell.
