Quality lupini beans
I've been eating lupini beans for ~50 years. Since lots of people here seem to lack context:
o They are the seeds of the Lupine flower
o For eating they are cooked and pickled in brine; traditional packaging is a glass jar of brine
o Thus, yes, they're wet, just like any other pickled food. Which people aren't used to in a snack packed in a resealable plastic bag, but yes folks, they're exactly how they're supposed to be.
o No you don't generally eat the seed coat; if you do it likely will come out largely intact. I place each between my incisors and shift my mandible to one side a bit; this neatly splits the seed coat which can be spit or taken out.
o The shelf-stable and non-fragile packaging has a lot of potential for taking with me when I travel, since planes, hotels, and caterers often offer only meat. I do wish that it were recyclable, instead of a composite of aluminum and plastic.
For this product specifically: I have never previously encountered these spiced with anything but salt. So far I've tried the lime and chili flavors. The added flavors are not super strong, but they're an interesting spin on a traditional food.
