A hairstylist adventures with Clairol Age Defy!
Well, I have been a hairstylist for 20 years now and I only use professional color on myself and my clients. I would never recommend a boxed store bought color for anyone's hair..... I am a BzzAgent and was chosen to try this product for free, I figured what do I have to lose right? But Knowing I don't like boxed color I was Leary of this product.... That is until now....Clariol's Age Defy formula. Sounds crazy right? Well, first let me explain why I do not like box color.....
I have many clients who have tried to save money by coloring their own hair. I understand sometime it just has to be that way. I never fault anyone for trying to save money. The problem with most box color is they smell horrible, don't cover grey, and if they do cover the grey, the color is flat and not shiny. Another issue is the dryness and lack of luster after coloring with a box. Sure for the first few washes it looks amazing but after a week or so it looks brassy and dull. I could never recommend a color for my client so they could "get by" until they had the money to come back in to me. Clariol Age Defy has changed my mind for good.
Clariol Age Defy Formula was the exact opposite of every other hair color out there in the stores. I used it on a friend of mine that has 100 percent grey and extremely coarse and hard to color hair. First I have to say it was easy to mix. And it came with a solution you apply to the hair first to pretreat the coarse greys. This kind of opens the cuticle and preps the hair for the actual color. (This is a trick I use in my salon when I need to color grey that is super resistant). I was pleased to see a box color have this extra step. After applying this 1 step then comes the color. It smelled pleasant, it was not full of ammonia, I could apply this in a bathroom and not dye from the fumes. Processing time was average time and when it came time to rinse I immediately noticed the grey was covered and it was soft.... I mean really soft. I almost did not need the conditioner after, but I applied it anyway so it would seal the cuticle back down and lock in the color. Now was the true test, blow drying the hair to see the coverage level and the frizz factor. I was pleased with the coverage the dimensional color and the lack of frizzy ends. I have to say I was super super impressed with this color line.
As a hairstylist I will still use professional color in my salon, but I now have a great alternative to recommend to my clients and friend if they want to use box color. very very impressed with this product and that says a lot! I will be telling everyone I know about the amazing results!
