Maximizes space for fabric storage as "mini-bolts".
I bought two sets of these to organize my sewing fabric stash, and they work wonderfully. I had a fairly organized collection of fabric before, but the amount of ironing I needed to do to get the random wrinkles out before sewing was wearing me out. I am also limited on space for storing, and found that I was buying fabric that I already owned, or very close to what I already owned, because I couldn't see what I had. YouTube has great videos out there for how to fold your fabric onto the board depending on the length. I have fit everything from a fat quarter to 3 yards of fabric with no issue or compromise to the finished "mini bolt" uniformity. I have to double up the boards if I want to fold more than 3 yards- I have done up to five yards with two boards together. After folding all the fabric in my stash, I got so excited that I actually cataloged all of it by taking a photo with my phone and storing it in an app I bought so I have a digital photo database with me when I go to the fabric store that reminds me all of the fabric's details including what it's made of, where I bought it, what I paid, and how much I have. Sounds super nerdy, but it really renewed my excitement about sewing. I have also read blogs where women will store their vintage patterns on a comic book board, then in a comic book clear plastic bag and file it in an ikea storage box, which lends itself to cataloging your pattern stash in a database again.... I digress. Organization is great- and these boards help a lot.
