I looked at many sandboxes when buying. Some were too small, some didn't close properly and some just flimsy. This is large, closes to keep rain and critters out, has a domed lid so we can keep tall toys inside, and sturdy. It has 4 built-in seats around it too. My 2.5 fits in it along with many toys and a toy truck. I'd imagine 3 kids could fit on perfectly fine and more if they played outside the box. Oh, and I bought 3 50lb bags of fine white sand to go inside. It could've fit more or less but I felt that amount was just right.
