Great product if you're willing to accept a few minor flaws.
I gave this product five stars because it is exactly what I needed and expected based on the reviews of others. As others have stated, there are two primary complaints about this product so purchase this product only if these minor issues and/or remedies are acceptable to you.
The product is made out of rubber that holds a memory when coiled while hot during the manufacturing process, especially at the core of the coil. This is very easily remedied by performing the following simple steps:
1. Remove product from packaging and place the entire coil in the sink without stretching it out. Put a stopper in the sink such that water won't drain out.
2. Heat a large stock pot full of water until it boils.
3. Using the appropriate personal protective equipment and taking all necessary safety precautions to prevent scalding, pour the boiling water over the coil and watch it magically return to its intended shape like a giant shrinky-dink snake.
4. Allow it to soak in the hot water for a few minutes. Then, remove it with some tongs, let it drip dry for a few seconds, and lay it out on the floor. The curl will be completely disappeared with less than 15 minutes of effort.
The second complaint that most people have is that the ink from the product labeling on the underside is transferred to the visible part because it's coiled prior to allowing the ink to completely dry. It makes it look a bit dirty and scuffed upon cursory glance and you wouldn't know it was ink unless you got down on your hands and knees and looked closely. This appearance was acceptable to me, but in the interest of solving the problem I did a little experimentation and determined that you can make it look slightly better with a finish sander and a lot of time and patience. Please note that my results concluded that this method does remove the ink; however, instead of "appearing" scuffed and dirty it actually becomes scuffed and dirty. Given enough time, effort, and sandpaper you could probably get it to look pristine but in my opinion it really isn't worth that much time, effort, and sandpaper.
