I suffer from anxiety and insomnia and occasional depression. I am trying to keep off of prescription medications and medications with side effects as much as possible. Read about GABA and based on other's reviews decided to give this a try. I like the fact that it's in bulk form - quite a savings. Generally in the morning I am severely anxious and feel depressed (have read this is caused by high cortisol levels upon awakening). On the very first day I tried this, upon waking in a very agitated state, I took the recommended starting dose with water. Taste is not bad. This gets into your system fast. Within 15 minutes I started feeling more relaxed and anxiety melted away. By 30 minutes I felt like "everything is going to be OK" and was able to begin working without feeling groggy. I am now taking it in the morning and before bed. I do sleep better but it's not magic bullet. Just eases your mind. Start at a low dosage. I moved up too quickly and felt a bit...giddy or too "up" (although you won't get a feeling of being high). Having taken various anti-anxiety meds over the years, I was amazed that GABA helps ease anxiety very subtly. I do not seem to be building a tolerance (not needing to increase dosage). My moods have evened out and I am more rested and nicer! Will buy again.
