I bought this to replace a heavy Hoover upright that was otherwise working fine (and free!). It was well maintained, clean filters,etc. I vacuumed my 1,100 foot apartment with the Hoove 3 days ago. I don't have pets! and only been here 6 weeks (so no big dust bunnies or uncleaned carpets. Or so I thought...) I decided to try out the new Eureka on my already "clean" floors. Two carpeted bedrooms, and a 5'x8' area rug in living room, plus the bare floors. After ten minutes, this is what it collected...If it were any more powerful, it would be sucking up the dirt from my downstairs neighbor's carpets! And I'm thrilled I didn't spend another $200 to get a top-brand, this one is fantastic, and given the price, I won't mind if it only lasts a few years...
