Awesome phone
This phone is great. I'm coming from a Note 4, so I'm going from a flagship to slightly less of a flagship, in terms of cost. Having unlimited data on Verizon, I've got to buy phones full price. The Note 4 cost me $750 after tax last year, while the Moto X cost me about $300 less! I love the fact that I can finally buy a phone that's NOT from Verizon, and have peace of mind knowing that if I ever leave, I can bring the Moto X with me to any carrier. It's amazing booting up a phone with absolutley NO Verizon software! All I had to do was use a sim cutter on my micro sim from my Note 4 and pop it in the Moto X...it connected to the network immediately. Only issue I had was I wasn't getting simultaneous voice and data. Every time I made a call, LTE would drop. So I looked into it, and found out that you have to have Verizon activate Advanced Calling (HD Voice) on the phone on their end. Then, you have to go into the hidden phone menu by dialing *#*#4636#*#*, then go to "Phone Information," scroll down and toggle "Turn on VOLTE provisioned flag." After you do this, reboot your phone, and now you've got simultaneous talk/data! Other than that, the phone does tend to run a bit warm, but after seeing many reports of this phone running warm, it's just something with the processor/gpu I believe. No, I don't have a faulty unit which is what everybody seems to run to the second you mention a warm phone...it's just how the phone is. Both of my S3's ran warm, my S4 and my DNA. Even my G2. Even my Note 4 would run warm in certain circumstances, but the Note definitely runs cooler than this. Who knows why, but it's not that bothersome. The speakers sound great. I love it. Many people will complain of a "popping" noise after the notification sound plays, and then suggest you return the phone....DO NOT listen to these people. The popping sound is the software/amplifier shutting off. You will notice this on low end PC soundcards as well. It's nothing you can do, it's not a hardware problem, and it MAY be able to be fixed with software updates, who knows. But it's not something you should return the phone over, because every one does it..other phones do it, too. We just never notice it because the speakers aren't on the front. Battery life is going to be a bit meh on this phone. My Note 4 gets some pretty awful battery life lately, and this Moto X will get me about the same it seems. Nothing I can do about it until I root it and maybe install Greenify, but until then, the battery seems like it'll maybe get me my usual 15 or so hours off charger at 2 to 3 SOT. We'll see.
