This is working very well for me so far. I mostly use it for its primary function of finding studs behind drywall, but it’s also useful for detecting live wires. When using one of these, turn every switch on in the area. I want every wire energized, so this device can detect them, and minimize the risk of causing inadvertent property damage when driving something through the wall. (See attached video). I’m an electrician, and this tool is much cheaper than hiring either me or a drywaller for even one repair. When receiving this tool, make sure you spend several minutes with it to understand thoroughly how to use it before you make any holes in the wall, especially if you’ve never used a stud finder before. For example, I noticed some 1 star reviews where the device was calibrated away from the wall, then the user was frustrated upon being unable to detect any studs with it. Of course it’s not working, it’s miscalibrated. Hold it against the wall while it’s calibrating, otherwise your readings will be worthless. This is my first time purchasing this brand of stud finder. I’ve had a few others, and I tend to like them at first, but I’ve found that they live shorter lives than most of my other tools. I purchased this in August 2020, and I intend to update my review whenever it dies to compare the longevity of this tool to other brands. But as long as it keeps functioning like it is now, I’m happy.
