This stuff really seems to work
I like a decent lawn but am not going to go crazy seeding, weeding, liming, etc...and my lawn reflects that. My mantra is usually "if it's green, it's grass" and I cut it. As a result, the lawn looks okay but can often be thin, sometimes kind of brittle to walk upon, and only light green in color.
There are some things I will try occasionally in the spring to improve its look but not much...and I only do it then. The lawn is pretty much on its own after that. Have neither the time nor the inclination to care for the lawn continuously throughout the season.
That being said, I tried the turf builder this spring in the front yard and on the right side of the house, areas which can be thin, weedy and even threadbare. I did put down a little extra grass seed as well, and I mean a little, and watered with a sprinkler every other day for about 7-10 days.
Well, I am so pleased with the results that I am writing this review and have told others. This turf builder has made a noticeable difference in the look and feel of my lawn. There are fewer weeds, it is more lush, more green and it looks healthier. In fact, I can honestly say it looks the best it has ever looked since I moved to this house 15 years ago.
A telltale sign of the turf builder's effectiveness is the untreated part of my lawn. I can actually see the difference between the treated and untreated areas. The treated area is noticeably darker green and fuller, with the grass growing taller. I am just sorry I did not do the whole lawn. It is on my calendar to do that next spring.
As another reviewer has written, don't give up on this too quickly. You need to give it about 2-3 weeks and water it a bit in the beginning. I do hope anyone who uses this product has as much success with it as I have had, and with such relatively little effort.
ADDENDUM - 7/23/2019: During the Fall of 2018 I decided to use this on the entire lawn. Bought four 40 lb. bags and mixed in some more grass seed. Laid it all down in late September hoping for the best in the Spring. Well, I was not disappointed.
At first, it did not seem to make much difference. As it got into May and June, though, I noticed an overall improvement even in very shaded areas which had previously had little grass and sometimes moss. With such encouragement from my lawn, I will probably do the same this Fall, likely adding a couple more bags.
One thing, I did water much of it for about an hour a day for a week. I have a half acre (about 75% lawn, the rest trees and large shrubs). It was kind of a pain to keep moving the sprinklers, and my water bill shot up for one cycle, but I felt the hydration was necessary and worth it.
