Great sound, simple set up, and includes Bluetooth connectivity. This is not a sound bar.
This a review of the Bose Solo 15 Series II TV sound system.
This is an incredible sound system, and does have bluetooth. Apparently, this is a newer version with Bluetooth, but carries the same moniker as the older version without it. I have a 55” Samsung TV whose speakers, like most, are in the back. I had it set up with a couple floor speakers but the amp died, and I replaced the setup with this. The Bose website says it can be used as a base for most 46"-50" TVs.
First, this is NOT a sound bar. It measures 14” from front to back, 24.75” wide, and 3” high. It is designed to be a sound stand for your flat screen TV—the instructions say to put the TV directly onto the middle of the system, though I didn’t try that: mine is resting on a shelf beneath the TV which is mounted to supports that are part of the furniture it is on. Anyway, there are three 2-inch speakers in the front middle, and one on each side toward the front so sound is distributed quite well throughout the room. There is no separate subwoofer, but I don’t find one necessary.
The thing can really get loud. You can adjust the amount of base you prefer, and there is a dialog mode if you want voices emphasized and the background diminished. This works well. The quality of the sound when streaming music over bluetooth is awesome, like high-class speakers with well-rounded sound from treble to bass. No tininess to be found. The sound when listening to TV is really impressive--you can actually hear all those subtle things that the closed captions tell you are happening but you couldn’t hear before. And this is while the volume is at a reasonable level.
Last, the setup was a piece of cake. Plug it in, plug the optical cable to the TV and to the back of the unit, and you are good to go. The back of the unit has inputs for analog (one red, one white RCA ports), optical, and coaxial cables. It comes with an optical cable, RCA cables, and a power cord. I connected the supplied universal remote to my TV, Apple TV, and DVD player in the space of about 30 minutes. The codes are supplied, and the search feature when you find that the code is wrong is fairly simple to use. Connecting the unit to my iPhone’s Bluetooth was also supremely simple.
Overall it is a fabulous piece of equipment.
