The good and bad of a very small device with a huge amount of memory storage.
I am a photographer who likes to carry a complete archive of all my photos with me at all times. With a handful of these drives, I now can. Over the past couple of years, I have purchased over a dozen PNY 256gb and 128gb flash drives. This is my first 512gb model. No PNY drive has ever failed or stopped working. Here are my views of the advantages and disadvantages of my new PNY Pro Elite 512GB USB flash drive. ________FIRST, THE GOOD: 1. Being able to store about about a half a terabyte of memory on a small flash drive is amazing. 2. Metal construction makes the device appear solid and sturdy. 3. Key ring slot is sturdy and appears that it will hold up longer than their all plastic flash drives. Several of their 128gb and 256gb flash drive key ring slots have broken on me. 4. For the price, it feels like a very good value. ________NOW THE BAD: 1. Drive properties shows only 470 Gigabytes available. This is true under its default NTFS file format or my preferred exFat drive formatting. 2. Gets hot after several minutes of continuing file copying. The heat doesn't interfere with its operation, however. 3. The metal construction makes it a little heavier than my all plastic encased PNY drives. ________THE BOTTOM LINE Even at 470Gb, this flash drive is still a very good value and offers an amazing amount of storage in a very small package. ===> I recommend it. <===
