********* UPDATE: It is now 4/27/2017 and this mug is on another deployment with my husband. I feel i should update since it's been years since my last update. In that time he threw his mug across the parking lot when he was mad, it didn't spill, but it added another dent or two. He still loves the mug and it went with him to the arctic. I offered to buy him a new one but he said he's likes the memories he has with this one and it still works great. ******************* I had previously written a review of this product giving it 5 stars and talking about it being awesome, but I just deleted it so I could rewrite. It has now been 3 years since I purchased this badboy and sent it off to Afghanistan where my husband was deployed. (purchase date December 24, 2011) - Quality: My husband dropped his mug off the top of a MATV and it didn't break, the lid didn't come off, it didn't even spill his coffee. It did dent a little but that was quite the fall. Over the next 3 years he has thrown this mug several times while angry and it is still going strong, not so pretty with the paint peeling, but just as functional. This is a great, sturdy mug. -This mug keeps things hot: he fills it up before he goes to work and the an hour later it is still "too hot" to drink if he hasn't let it vent a little. It easily keeps his drinks hot for hours, and even up to 12+ hours if he hasn't opened the lid much. -It fits in a standard cup holder. And even if it didn't fit in your cup holder, it really is leak proof, so if you shut the mouth piece you could just throw it on your seat and it is not going to spill. -Cleaning: One of the main reasons I bought this was because of the lid being able to be disassembled fully to be cleaned. I wanted something that wouldn't get nasty while he had it during his deployment. It can easily have all of it's parts cleaned thoroughly and is no trouble at all. That being said there was never once any build up or nastiness when disassembled to clean,, which says a lot since being how he is, he cleaned it maybe every 4 months. It is also dishwasher safe -as another reviewer stated "- Lid Design & Stainless Steel Lip: The stainless steel lip for sipping is more comfortable than plastic or rubber. Also, the design of the lid helps in preventing scalding hot liquid from getting to your mouth too fast." This is the truth. This is my review after 3 years of this thing going through daily use and getting beaten up during field ops and deployments. His mug isn't too pretty looking anymore but it is just as functional. The fact that it's survived falling off his MATV, and getting thrown across parking lots and other places and is still a beast of a mug I felt compelled to write a new review updating how the mug is doing. I will buy another one when the time comes that it's needed, I would not hesitate at all.
