Company stands behind their product
I ordered this test for 2 mixed breed dogs who are littermates, but who do not look alike at all. When I submitted the test, I did not indicate anywhere that they were siblings.
When I got the results back, their ancestry percentages were similar, but not identical. They both had 12.5% American Foxhound, Chow Chow, German Shepherd, Labrador Retriever and Rottweiler plus 25% "mixed breed" from hunting and herding groups. However, one had an extra 12.5% American Foxhound, while the other had 12.5% Collie. Also, their ancestry trees for both were quite different so I was a little skeptical of the science.
I emailed the company to ask for an explanation. I got a prompt reply from someone asking for pictures of the dogs as well as any information I had on their backgrounds. I then got a reply saying I should hear from someone in 14 calendar days.
A little over a week later, I got a phone call from a vet with Mars Veterinary. She was very informative, and spent about 30 minutes on the phone with me explaining how the test works, and how they approximate the parentage of the dogs based on the DNA. She then said that she reviewed the results and updated the dogs' ancestry tree and explained the changes she made. I definitely felt like everything she was saying was logical and scientific, and that they weren't just making up something that sounded good so I would stop complaining.
She also had a lot of interesting information about dog genetics in general, and how colors and fur length and other traits are passed down.
I was very impressed that someone from the company actually called me to explain how the test works and how they got the results they did. I would definitely recommend this test, and would also recommend contacting customer service if you have questions about the results.
