Great charger, better than many desktop / AC chargers!
Given the large number of "I was provided this unit for review" disclaimers, I feel I should note that I was NOT provided this item for review purposes. I bought this charger myself, using my own money and without any sort of discount. OK, with that out of the way... I love this charger! Quick Charge 2.0 on both ports, confirmed with a USB power monitor (QC2.0 USB Multimeter, AmorTek J7-D USB Voltage/Amps Power Meter). It also provides full 10W (2A @ 5V) to iPad without having to use a smart charge adapter. Voltage was steady with little, if any, voltage drop. Heck, most of my "high power" desktop chargers don't provide that much power or that level of voltage stability. It does get warm when charging due to the voltage conversion it is doing so don't be worried when that happens. The red ring around the base lights up when the adapter has power and isn't obnoxiously bright. I know that both Audi & BMW have red "opera lighting" and this fits in quite nicely with that lighting. It is a bit bulky compared to some other adapters due to the charging circuitry but it fits in perfectly in my vehicle. It is also very easy to just slightly pull it out of the socket to disconnect it from power but leave it in place. If you have a device that can be charged via USB it can almost certainly can be charged by this. That means Kindle, Fire, iPad, iPhone, Android phones & tablets, etc. To actually use this charger's full capability the cable you use, whether for Android or iPhone/iPad, must be a data sync cable and not a charge-only cable. A data sync cable connects both the power pins and data pins while a charge-only cable only connects the power pins. iPad must see the appropriate signal on the data pins to pull the full 2A (10W), otherwise it limits itself to 1A (5W). Quick Charge requires actual negotiation between the charger and device via the data pins to determine the shared capabilities. The initial connection always starts at 5V for compatibility with non-QC devices. Once the charger and device negotiate with each other that they both support Quick Charge the charger will shift the voltage from 5V to a higher value. I ordered Swiftrans Apple Lightning USB Cable, [Apple MFi Certified] Lightning to USB Cable with Micro USB Connector Charge and Sync for iPhone, iPad and Android 3.3ft - Black at the same time specifically to keep in the car with the charger and it works perfectly for both my QC 2.0 capable Sony Z3 tablet as well as my iPad.
