Important to get the molding process right for them to work properly.
Ok, after reading some of these reviews, I feel the need to chime in.
Sound engineer of more than 20 years here. I have been recommending these to people who work in loud concert environments for a couple years now.
I bought a couple of pairs myself first to test them and I can say this:
When you mold these well, the noise reduction is excellent. If you mold them poorly, the result will be poor.
Sound waves travel through air gaps, like water travels through holes in something. Even the slightest gap between the 'plug' part and the molded part will drastically reduce performance. When you make the mold be sure to push the molding material up nice and tight around the plug before it cools.
Seriously, if you bought these and think they don't work, drop them in some hot water and remold them. I can guarantee you that they do work, and they work well.
