Wish I Used it Earlier
Negatives: - It's got a pungent, funky smell, but one that evaporated very quickly. (It's hot here, maybe that helped?) - Doesn't work immediately for pests. Yes, but this is linked to how remarkable Neem Oil is. Neem Oil uses a more subtle approach, and makes pests "forget" to eat, to reproduce, and sometimes even fly. Yup, Google it. So it takes longer, but you're not slathering your garden with poison, either. - Don't use under direct sun. Best to do in early AM or late afternoon/dusk. Positives: - Great, natural pest-reducer. - Amazing Makeover!! My plants look like they went to the Plant Makeover Artist or something. I've rarely seen such shiny, beautiful, healthy, moisturized leaves on any plants, much less my own. I even sprayed it on my "Flapjacks" (a funny pink succulent that looks like a stack of pancakes standing on it's side) and the colors are so enhanced, I keep staring at it. For this reason alone is it worth it to use. How I Used: Not saying this is the best way, but if it helps you your first time, this is how I used it: I bought Dyna Gro, and I bought a clear spray bottle (so you can see the solution inside) with a mist setting. I already had dish soap. I followed the Dyna Grow instructions and had to guestimate at the ratios of Dyna Gro, water, and soap because my spray bottle didn't have the same units of measurement as the instructions. The directions didn't specify hot or cold so I used tepid water. I screwed on the spray cap, noticed the yellow-colored solution looked pretty well mixed already, but I sloshed the bottle up and down a few times to be sure. Then I went to my balcony (in the very late afternoon) and sprayed a serious mist all over my plants, to the tops and undersides of leaves. It was like bringing a healing cloud over them, you could see the leaves loving it immediately. When I noticed any filthy leaves, I sprayed a ton on, and then wiped off whatever sediment had been there, then sprayed more. I also misted the soil pretty good, since I had made too much solution. Btw, I read it is best to NOT make a huge amount and keep it for later, but instead make a fresh small batch each time.. that's the main reason why I chose to buy neem oil this way instead of buying a pre-formulated spray. The dregs of the bottle I poured into a large watering can, then filled it and watered my plants. Somewhere I read this was fine to do. I also sprayed some on 2 indoor plants, but not as abundantly. I experienced no lingering odor, but again, I wonder if this could be because it evaporated/dried pretty quickly for me since temps were in the 90's here. That's it, have fun with your plants!
