UPDATED INFO REGARDING PUBLICATION
12/15/2019 UPDATE: Sigh. I love Judith's books. I think that they are well written and thoughtful. They have solid plot structure, good character development and make sense (yes, I'm giving side eye to the book I picked up and then tossed when the author tried to sell me a romantic hunky hero who owned/operated a casino and did quilting as a hobby). Apparently that is what has been Ms. McNaught's "downfall". Apparently while the rest of us might like well written books, her publishers want fast and easy, sloppy romantic novels. Don't get me wrong, I love a trip to Wendy's and Whataburger, but every so often it's nice to step it up a notch and go to Mortons etc. There's nothing wrong with quick good romances - but there's also nothing wrong with great writing.... So currently her new book is listed on Amazon. The publishers have even given it a cover. However, look at date of publication: 2045....... I researched it and this apparently is not a typo, but rather an intentional decision. If you go to https://livinglifefearless.co/2019/features/the-curious-disappearance-of-judith-mcnaught-what-happened-to-the-sweetest-thing/ the author makes some good points and explains the situation more fully. I'm so sad that the publisher has done this and feel they have disrespected not only Judith but her readers as well. If I were Judith, I'd switch to someone else or self-publish. Since the company hasn't updated her author page since the last publication (around 2006-2007?) she really needs to work on putting up her own page.... Just saying.... Keeping fingers crossed that she's not so hurt by the professional betrayal that she says "forget about this hassle" and moves off into retirement.
**************************************************************** BELOW IS MY ORIGINAL REVIEW AND RESPONSE, PLEASE SEE UPDATE ABOVE:
I was so frustrated to have the publishing date pushed back once, twice, now we're up to about the 3rd time - but here's the thing, even without a book in hand, I will stake $24.99 that this book will be just as good as the rest of the books that she's written. For those who don't know, Judith's mom was really sick and she took time off to take care of her. My sincerest condolences go out to her as I've heard that her mom has since passed away. I think everyone frothing at the mouth over all the delays needs to take a step back and ponder: what's more important, spending the last moments you have with a loved one caring to their needs - or meeting a deadline so folks like us can curl up with a great book before bedtime.... hummmm.... I think that if you have to pause to actually answer that then you need to get yourself back to church/temple/or whatever other place of worship tickles your fancy. PEOPLE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN BOOKS! I'd be thoroughly disappointed in Ms. McNaught if she chose to ignore her mom instead. I'll wait - I don't mind - and I promise you that as soon as we can preorder, my credit card digits will be flying across the wires...
