LIDS: The lids are plastic, coated in chrome, and not what I was expecting. The description says built by Sturdy Steel w/ Chrome finish... so maybe this is my fault for not reading properly, but I think it is a little misleading. I feel if I tighten it too much I might break them. Although, they do seem to be air tight and they look good. SHAKER HOLES: The shaker holes are very tiny, therefore only powders were able to get through. However, I took a hole punch to the outside holes and i'm much more pleased with distribution for larger spices. RACK STAND: The stand is one shiny piece and completely solid and sturdy. The caps, although plastic, do look good stacked on the rack. GLASS CONTAINERS: The glass containers are very solid and strong. I dropped one from counter height and watched in slow motion as it fell to the floor fully expecting it to shatter into a billion pieces. However, the glass didn't shatter, not even a scratch or crack. I was impressed.
