If a picture is worth a thousand words, here's 14,000 words! A yard-stick is placed in some of the photo's to give you a sense for size (the yard-stick does not come with this item). One of the pictures shows how it has a latch that will keep it folded together for easier carrying and transporting it folded up. Very sturdy, high quality product. The only question for me is, would a smaller dog be ok with the feel of the artificial carpet on the ramp? Maybe others with a small dog can comment on this. Mid to larger dogs, beagles, basset hound, setter, found this just fine when led up the ramp a few times on a leash. I suppose a small dog would be easily picked up and put in the vehicle, so this might be a hassle if you only wanted it for a small dog or cat. I have shown it on the side-door and rear door of a minivan, and on the real hatch of a Honda CR-V. It can hook to the rear hatch locking pin (see photo) with an adjustable strap and clip; this wasn't really needed but its there if you want to be really secure.
