Immune Boosting Powerhouse!
Warning: This review is a bit long, but filled with lots of information on how to keep the immune system up. I am a nutritionist and I am passionate about my work and have a lot of years experience in holistic health.
I work in the holistic arts and fitness fields as a nutritionist, personal trainer, yoga, pilates, and dance teacher and I have been leading a holistic lifestyle for 16 years now. I feel like I have natural immune boosters down to a science so to speak because it has worked so well for so many. Two of my #1 recommendations I always give to people for the FIRST sign of sniffles, sore throat, or a general feeling of malaise is echinacea & goldenseal tincture as well as Lomatium. I was impressed to see this formula has BOTH (especially considering Lomatium is not widely known) as well as Astragalus and Oregon Grape which are also highly effective and well known for their immune boosting qualities. Usnea balances the formula out perfectly and is more specific for strep and staph infections than Echinacea, and its antibiotic properties are most specific to the respiratory and urinary systems.
Needless to say, I was highly impressed when I saw the synergy of herbs they chose to use in this immune boost formula. I had my chance to try it when my boyfriend came home early from work with the chills, a low-grade fever, achy body, and a general feeling of malaise. I usually give him a slew of different tinctures, supplements, etc... to chase off whatever he may be coming down with. He usually hates taking them because he has always despised the tastes of the tinctures and is not a fan of swallowing pills. This time I gave him just ONE thing: the immune tincture (here in review) by GoNutirents. I did this on purpose because I wanted to know how the tincture would work on it's own.
I am happy to say this thing is a powerhouse and can be used as a one stop shop so to speak. I gave him three doses: 1:30pm, 5:30pm, and 9:30pm. He was already feeling better by the early evening and felt great the next morning! These are the results we typically get, BUT with MANY more formulas/pills/vitamins/etc... than being able to "reverse the flu" with just ONE formula!! My boyfriend was a little shocked when I gave him just ONE thing - he looked at me really confused and said "that's it?" It made me laugh because I seriously usually give him like seven different things. He was also surprised the tincture was not bad! If you are familiar with tinctures, then you know they are usually pretty nasty tasting. I tasted a little myself, and we both thought the taste is better than any other immunity tincture we've had before ( and I have tried a whole lot in my day). Not super yummy, but not bad at all!
It is best to take most herbal tinctures (including the immune formula in review here) on an empty stomach. First thing in the morning, and right before bed are good times, as well as 1-3 more times throughout the day, evenly spread out, on an empty stomach. Add a small amount of water (about 1 oz) take like a shot, and have a chaser of a small amount of water ready (to wash taste out of mouth). If you do not mind the taste, then you can put the dose directly under your tongue and allow it to sit for 30 seconds before swallowing: this allows it to reach your bloodstream much faster. Same concept as sublingual vitamin B.
This tincture should only be taken when you either feel something coming on or sick. It is not meant to be taken daily or regularly (unless you are currently sick).
For prevention and daily immune boosters look into making homemade liosomal Vitamin C (you can also purchase lypospheric C by Livon Labs here on Amazon, though it is a bit pricey). If you are not opposed to caffeine, then you can include 1-3 cups of green tea daily to keep colds, flu, and the sort at bay. Grapefruit Seed Extract (by Nutribiotic) is something some people choose to take through the winter months ( as prevention). GSE (grapefruit Seed Extract) is antibacterial, antiviral, anti-parasitic, etc... and it is a wonderful compliment to any formulas used to boost immunity for the times you need it when feeling under the weather and/or it can be used daily (prevention) during winter months. Oregano oil, Colloidal Silver, and Myco formulas are also very popular immune boosting remedies. One of the most important steps is to eat clean. Include as much raw organic juices, fruits, and veggies as possible in your diet and strive for zero to minimal processed foods and beverages.
One KEY is to take this tincture (and whatever else you may choose to take) immediately - at the first sign of malaise. Stay with it until you feel better. IF the cold/flu/strep/bronchitis/etc... DOES still come on, then continue to take the tincture until you feel better AND for 1-2 days after you feel better. If you get a sore throat, try gargling with warm water, a quality salt (Himalayan, Celtic, etc...), and a couple drops of organic tea tree oil. It is not the best tasting, but it is highly effective and make sure to do the gargle last thing at night as well as throughout the day. If you feel something come on in your chest put on (or make your own) natural rub with essential oils like: Eucalyptus, Rosemary, TeaTree, Lavender, Thyme, etc... Mullein is excellent for anything respiratory.
Honestly, this tincture (by GoNutrients) should be enough for a typical cold or flu. The above are just suggestions to keep you healthy to begin with (prevention is always best) and a few added suggestions in case you come down with something serious and need to add a few more things to help bump your immune system up. I live a very clean lifestyle for close to 20 years now, my boyfriend does not though. hah! We are the epitome of opposites attract in every way - and one of them is our diets. While I am a wholefoods, mostly raw, vegan, he is a typical mainstream meat eater who eats processed foods and beverages. I am saying this because the immune formula we recently tried out DID work for him on it's own without any additional diet changes or additional supplements/tinctures/herb/vitamins, etc.... To me, that says a lot.
