First off, let me start by saying, please excuse any horrid typos, I'm writing this from my Android and the non-mobile version of the site is causing Swype to betray me. With all that being said let's get started with a list of pros and cons. PROS: -Very nice looking cage, very appealing color and just overall looks, what's the word I'm looking for, well I guess "expensive". -Extremely Sturdy, if put together and tightened correctly, this thing doesn't wobble at all. -Very nice Ferret-Proof Doors/Locks. I love them,I cannot see how it'd be possible for a ferret to get them open if locked properly and I've met a few rather clever ferrets. -The ramps and platforms are actually metal. They look much nicer than plastic ramps and platforms and are definitely very sturdy. -Storage rack is extremely convenient, I like being able to put all (well, quite a bit) of my ferret supplies under the cage and out of the way. -Two very large front doors, this will surely make cleaning very easy. I do wish both doors on each level opened, but the platforms connect to one of doors on each level, so it's not possible. Either way, it still opens very wide and it's convenient. -Access door from the roof is nice. I mostly like it because I'm planning on getting another one of these later when my kits are older and making a tube contraption to bridge the two cages and I won't have to cut a hole in the cage. -Has the ability to separate into two cages, which will be very handy for unexpected situations,etc. This will be very nice if you get new additions to your ferret family and the ferrets aren't all getting along to begin with. -Removable tray for cleaning. It's very nice and easy to slide out, I won't really be using it because I'm litter training and will have linoleum covering the bottom. CONS: -The packaging is horrid. I don't blame Amazon and I know the cage is made of metal bars, but due to lack of good packaging from the manufacturer a few of my bars were bent and we had to bend them back as best we could with pliers. The cage is simply too large and heavy for me to consider re-packaging and re-sending for a replacement. However, this isn't that big of an issue, because it was only bars on the bottom pieces which I'll be custom cutting pieces of linoleum for easy clean up and they'll be covered. -The directions were atrocious, so many times we realized that the piece we screwed in was not the right one and we had to take it off and find the right one. This could easily be solved by putting label stickers on each piece, they were already wrapped in plastic. Took us about an hour to put together. -The door on the top, Its extremely easy to "POP" up and push over, we used pliers to make the "clamp" hold tighter, now its perfect, before clever ferrets would have easily escaped -The ramps don't line up properly,I have horrid OCD, so this drove me insane, so again we turned to our friend Mr.Pliers, with a bit of pressure, then using the pliers to clamp the pieces tighter that were attached to the platform we managed to make it nearly perfect. (Side note: On the ramp that bridges both cages we didn't attach the circular side to the first bar in the entrance to the second level, I believe its one or two back and it fit snugly.) -The storage area on the bottom, while convenient, I wish the cage was a little higher up to allow more room for it, it'd make it easier to clean and my large bag of ferret food would be able to sit upright. -Last but not least, This is NOT the same cage pictured, its very similar, but still not the same. The cage I received had metal ramps and metal platforms, definitely an upgrade in my opinion, but I thought I should mention it for those that may prefer plastic platforms. (Side Note: Its actually rather funny, not only is the cage different than the one pictured, but the box it came in had the old version of the cage on it with the plastic platforms, not only that, but the directions were even more confusing, because they are the OLD version of the cage. Not extremely huge differences in the two, mostly frustrating when you're putting the platforms and ramps in, because you're trying to match the picture in the directions and can't.) FINAL OPINION: In my honest opinion the cage is definitely worth the money and its extremely nice. It's in our living room right now and were slowly putting hammocks and food bowls, etc in it over the next month while we wait for our two lovely kits to be old enough to come home. Definitely not an eye sore and plenty of space. If you're looking for a great deal, this is it. Be warned though, setup is a two person job, at least that's how I feel and just in case I would set aside at least an hour and a half for assembly. Regardless of the Cons listed above, I give it four stars. With a pair of pliers and a little patience this is a great buy. (Side Note: Amazon offered me a replacement because of the bent bars, I was just calling to let them know they may want to let the manufacturer know the packaging really needs to be improved. When I said "No, it's okay", they didn't take "No" for an answer and they gave me a slight discount as an apology. I love Amazon, you can definitely buy without worry.) Now I just have to decide which of the following three name sets will be perfect for my two Dark chocolate hooded brother kits. -Cookie & Monster -Ares & Apollo -Scotch & Soda Decisions, decisions, feel free to comment and give me your opinion.
