I tried this out with my 32 lb dog this morning. It is made to be hooked up in the back seat, but she likes to ride in the front passenger bucket seat, however hooking it up in the front seat will provide little protection. I put her in the front seat but instead of hooking the "leash" part to the aft D ring of the harness (as intended), I just put the clasp of the leash through the harness then hooked it to the male end of the shoulder harness buckle. Took off for Lowe's, going about 50 on a little country road, and a pick-up truck pulled out in front of me. Slammed on the brakes. My dog slid forward until her front feet were off the seat, then the belt arrested further travel. She did not fall off the seat. She did not slam into the dashboard. She was perfectly fine. I don't think she even knew how close we were to wrecking. Slowton - thanks.
