I bought these for my 9 year old daughter to use with her friends and also so I can communicate with her when she is playing outside. These are cute and work fine. However, buyers should be aware that you get less than mile range in an urban area. The 16-mile range only applies from mountaintop to mountaintop. In an urban area, the package states a range of up to .7 miles. I tested this in Brooklyn where they have about a 1/2 city block range--maybe a block if both people are outside.
