The Bottom Line is... This is an Excellent Choice for an Affordable Portable Air Conditioner. Buy it. I purchased this to replace my previous Portable A/C, which was a top of the line DeLonghi Portable A/C I had purchased at Costco years ago. I had it for over 8 years and it was time for an upgrade. This Shinco Air Conditioner is a Complete Winner for Three Reasons: Performance, Features, Size & Price. *** Performance: I use this as an Air Conditioner for my Master Bedroom. I don't have central air in my home, so I need to use a Portable, especially in my bedroom, for comfort during the hot months and especially for sleep at night. Bottom Line... This A/C turned an 80 degree room down to 71 degrees in less than 8 minutes. After 15 minutes, the room was 67 degrees. It's Cold, Refreshing and IMMEDIATELY Cools the room. I tested with an accurate room thermometer and was Extremely Impressed and Delighted. Most Portable A/Cs are NOT designed to Cool an "Entire House," and I've never expected that. For a Large Bedroom, however, which is what I've always needed for... This Machine is a Dream! 5 STAR PERFORMANCE! *** Features: This A/C has all the usual features, including Remote Control, Fan Speed Options, Dehumidifier, Fan-Only, Timer, Sleep Mode, etc, etc, etc. Two of the Biggest Features that work Incredible are that it also doubles as a Very Good Air Filter/Cleaner for a space. It pulls the air from your room into it's filtering system, and literally blows it outside through the window hose. I didn't expect how Well it could take a room full of dust and Clean The Air so effectively. SCORE! The Other GREAT Feature is it runs, and Dehumidifies, it collects Water. They all do. But THIS one takes the water it collects and uses that water to circulate it through it's coils, thus more Cooling Efficiency. However, that's not why I Love it. I LOVE This Feature because it is LESS WORK!!! My previous A/C had me emptying water at least once a day. Either by emptying it's collection bucket inside, or by hosing out the water to a gallon-jug. I HATED that aspect! This A/C doesn't bother me with dealing with water. I ran it over 8 hours and not a single drop of water to deal with, because this machine USES the water it collects! Brilliant! No more times of worrying if my portable A/C is going to "spill over" or I'm gonna have to get up in the middle of the night to dump water. I cannot overstate how much I LOVE this feature! *** Size: Obviously, technology has improved over the years. My previous Portable A/C was the size of a small dresser and heavy. Sure, it had wheels... but it was a Beast to move, and I Dreaded every time I had to put it away for the winter. The Size of THIS air conditioner makes it a Complete Charm, and is an IMPORTANT reason to buy it. It's UNDER 28" tall, very compact, and UNDER 50lbs. It has a Handle built into the design, so I can literally pick it up with One Hand! I actually have it setting on top of a small table in my room, next to the window, and it's at home in a corner of my room. It effectively TAKES UP NO SPACE. I cannot tell you how valuable this is for me. This Portable A/C is SO COMPACT, I won't need to put it in the garage as soon autumn approaches. I can't believe this Little Guy packs So Much Cooling Power. Amazing! *** Noise... Is It Quiet?: Much has been written about the "Noise Factor" when it comes to these Portable A/C units, and here's what I'll say first. AIR CONDITIONERS MAKE NOISE. Period. Some may expect that even though a manufacturer advertises "quiet operation," that will translate into "does not make noise." To think that ANY Air Conditioner is Not going to make noise is Foolish, Naive & Absurd. If you want Quiet, DO NOT buy ANY Air Conditioner. For THIS Air Conditioner though, after using other Portable Air Conditioners... it's Really Not Bad. The Noise it does make is "Smooth," and you don't hear 'drips' or 'friction' noises. It's like a Loud Fan with a little extra bass. lol. EXACTLY WHAT I WOULD EXPECT. It's Not Quiet, but it's NOT Annoying either... at least for me. It's Quiet-ER than many I've used/seen/been around. This is actually PERFECT for me because I LIKE some kind of background sound when I sleep. Hell, they even SELL things to make Background Noise to help people sleep! The Operation Noise of This A/C doesn't bother me at all. In fact... kinda think it helps me sleep. *** Price: First and Foremost, I AM NOT the kind of Shopper who will Buy The Cheapest. I'm Not. I'm a HUGE believer in Paying More Money to Get What Works. I buy ALL Apple Products. More Expensive, but Apple Works. I buy Philips Hue Smart Lights. More Expensive, but compared to their competition, they Work Best. That's the kind of Shopper I am. But... I LOVE to Save Money when I can. I also have to admit that when I saw the Price of this A/C, part of me disregarded it as "too cheap to work well." In fact, in my Amazon Cart, I had previously put a Portable A/C that was about $100 more in, as that was the one I was intending to buy... before I changed my mind. In Short, this is a 5-STAR Portable Air Conditioner at an UNBELIEVABLE Price!! Although Price is Not THE Reason to buy it, Price IS the Reason to Not let this Deal Go. Seriously. I would Expect to pay about $350-400 for a Portable A/C as Powerful and with the Features this one has. At $269 IT IS A STEAL!!! Seriously? $269? BUY IT! In Closing... I spend ALOT of time researching before I bought This one. I read reviews, both On and NOT on Amazon, and I went back and forth a few times, wavering between different brands. I am SO GLAD I choose This One. POWERFUL COLD, Feature-Rich, COMPACT SIZE, and a Definite LIFE & SLEEP Improvement Machine. At $269, it's one of the BEST Purchases I've Made in a Long Time.
