SoundPeat T2 vs Earfun Air Pro vs MPOW X3 vs TOZO NC9
I purchased all of these earbuds with my own money, I wanted to find the best airpod pro alternatives. I have a decent collection of audiophile headphones, my favorite earbuds are UE TripleFi-10 which I had custom moulded into the shape of my ear. My headphones are Fostex TH-X00, AKG K701, Sennheiser HD6xx (favorite) and Beyer DT770-40ohm driven by a Little Dot MkII. I don't expect budget BT earbuds to be audiophile level, I want them to sound good for music, audio books, and conference calls for work. They need to be easy to use and I don't want to mess with connectivity issues. Here's my review of the Mpow X3 vs Tozo NC9 vs Soundpeat T2 vs Earfun Air Pro Case: MPOW X3 - light, however feels flimsy. I feel like I could break it if I knocked the lid the wrong way when it's open Tozo - Case material and hinge feel solid. The case quality is good. SoundPeat T2 - Best case in the mix. Very high quality plastic, the hinge feels secure, and the hinge will "snap" open to keep it open. The hinge feels like the highest quality of the mix, a little more solid than the Ear Fun. Very small and perfect shape for tucking away. Earfun Air Pro - Case also snaps open like the Soundpeat. Very high quality plastic, solid hinge. Sound: Norah Jones, John Mayer, and mix of hip hop and pop songs MPOW X3 - Good clarity, clear mids and highs, no fatigue from listening. Music sounds great, audiobooks and calls were clear. Bass was full and thumping from the 10mm drivers. Tozo NC9 - Very harsh sound. The mids were plagued with a harsh hiss that makes voices hard to distinguish clearly. The highs were very harsh and fatiguing on the ears. Very disappointed in the sound of these. These also had a hard time getting loud enough vs the other earbuds. I had to crank these to 90% to get decent output. SoundPeat T2 - Best audio of the bunch. Very good sound quality. Mids and highs very clear and crisp but not too sharp, lows were deep and kick and thump as appropriate. Volume is good. These have a larger sound stage than the others. The sound on these are very well balance and I enjoyed the sound on these the most out of all the earbuds here. Earfun Air Pro - Clarify from highs to lows, bass is plentiful, and sound is tuned in a very fun shaped V curve without sacrificing clarity in the mids. Let's be honest, no one is going to be referencing studio audio with these, these are meant to be fun. ANC ANC was good on all of these. The ANC on the X3 only works when both earbuds are connected. But they all did a decent job of filtering out white noise or even my keyboard clicks. Looks MPOW X3 - looks like a pair of black airpods, but the battery connects are on the end of the tips, so when you are facing someone, they see these yellow shiny tips pointing at them. I was not a fan. Tozo NC9 - Doesn't protrude much from the ear. There is no stem, so it's very minimal. And the matte finished logo with an LED light looks very nice. Too bad they didn't sound good. SoundPeat T2 - Very good looking pair of earbuds, they protrude quite a bit out of your ears as they need to accommodate the large 12mm drivers and the battery and circuitry. They still feel very solid and I didn't have issues with them falling out. Earfun Air Pro - My favorite in terms of looks. They look they most like Airpod pros (the portion that goes into your ear) and the stem looks very nice and sharp. The microphone grill points down. Charging surfaces are hidden from view when worn. Very slick. Connection speed SoundPeat T2 and Earfun Air Pro will start connecting when the case opens, this makes the connection feel faster than the MPOW X3 or TOZO NC9, which requires you to remove the earbuds from the case to start connecting. Ability to use individually MPOW X3 can only use the right earbud individually. The rest (TOZO NC9, SoundPeat T2, and Earfun Air Pro) can use either ear bud individually.
